Do you all have someone in your life who is incredibly hard to buy for? I'm not just talking about Christmas, but birthdays and all the other times of the year when you need to get them a gift? I know I do!
One thing we do in our family is give the gift of a charitable donation in honor of that person. So, in case you find yourself in the same dilemma here are some charities that I recommend! Feel free to leave a comment with your favorite charity!

Arkansas Children's Hospital
I think that one speaks for itself!
Another one that we give to regularly is the Disabled Veterans Fund. Chris and I feel strongly about honoring and serving those who have served our country and fight daily for our freedom.
St. Jude's is a wonderful organization and you can give a donation in honor or memory of a friend/family member.
Arkansas Baptist Childrens Home is a organization in our state that houses children who've been neglected, abused, and/or abandoned. It is truly a wonderful organization, and like the others, you can give in honor or memory.
And last but not least is an organization that I just recently heard about, called Heifer Int'l. Through them, you can give the gift of an animal...ranging from, you guessed it, heifers, to chickens, goats, water buffalo's and more. The idea is that instead of just feeding the person, you are giving them the gift of an animal that will continue to provide for their family. For example, the cow won't only provide milk, but their can birth a calf every year that the family can sell and make income off of. Visit their site for many more examples!

I am a "lurker" on your blog. I started following your blog and kellyskornerblog when Brayden and Harper were born. I am not even sure how I found you both! :) I thought I'd comment on this post because I know of an amazing charty called charity:water that 100% of the money donated goes to digging fresh water wells in villages who do not have access to clean water. 4500 children die every day due to illnesses caused by lack of clean water. Lack of access to clean water is the leading cause of death in underdeveloped nations. Americans spend $450 BILLION a year on Christmas and only a third of that would completely irradicate the water crisis in the world. You can learn more at water4christmas.com or charitywater.org. I could go on forever about this amazing organization! :)

So cool! We have this in common! My in laws are impossible to buy for because whenever they want something, they go buy it. I almost always try to make a donation in honor of them every year! I'm doing St. Jude this Christmas.
I also love the Arkansas children's hosp! The charity dear to my heart is the American Heart Association. Not only do the try and educate people to care for their heart, but they also do lots of research for congenital heart defects which is adults and children born with heart defects. we do participate in surveys and studies because our daughter has heart disease. There are so many babies with horribly bad things wrong with their hearts and a lot of times the only answer is a heart transplant which becomes a life long battle. thanks to them I became an expert in my daughters condition.
My favorite charity is Love without boundaries. They help children in orphanages in China. They help to provide nutrition, education, surgeries and transition for the older kids leaving the orphanages!!
We just recently got married in October and have not gave as a married couple yet. This Christmas we have two kids from church that we are buying Christmas gifts for and my company has adopted a family! After the holidays we want to get involved with an organization that helps children!
Great post! I'll probably have more thoughts on Heifer tomorrow after my nursing class does clinical there. We're supposed to be getting a tour, etc for our Community Health Nursing rotation!I've heard of it, but never really knew what it was.
You know that Heifer Int. is AR based right? You can visit their headquarters in Little Rock, downtown right behind the Clinton Library. I have also visited the Heifer farm years ago. I'm assuming it's still open and you can still visit. It's pretty neat because they teach the visitors, especially kids, why you would want to send a goat or cow or other animal to a family and how valuable something like a cow can be to a family.
