Brayden's first snow day

Yesterday we woke up to a nice layer of snow on the ground!

Before I post those pics, I forgot to share this one...it's the sign my parents had made for our garage door. It was up the day we came home from ACH! Isn't that cool?

Here's Brayden staring out the window at the snow...and notice, he's in his bouncy seat and he isn't screaming!

Mommy and Me:

Showing Brayden the snow and giving him lots of kisses!

Yesterday Chris' mom and step-dad came over from Tulsa. We went out to our property to show them around and to show Brayden the cabin for the first time (those pics are on my dad's camera which I need to borrow so that I can upload them). He had a really great day.

Brayden's been doing really well lately. Sleeping at night is still an issue but it's improving. More importantly, he's happier. During the day we play and he smiles and laughs. During his bath yesterday he didn't scream...I think he semi-enjoyed it. It seems like he is finally comfortable here. His new favorite past time is to stare at the ceiling fan, aka Mr. Fan (whether or not it's on which is normally isn't). He is totally mesmerized by it.

His next doctor appointment is on Tuesday and I'm anxious to talk to the doctor about his medication. He's only had one big spitup since we've had him home and everything I've read about Reglan is negative, so I'd like to know when he thinks we can start weaning him off of it. He's also on Prevacid but I've not seen very many negative things about that.

Tomorrow is The Bachelor...I am pulling for Melissa (I watched her on the DCC Making The Team show...I can't believe I just admitted that) because I think she is a genuinely nice person. Molly doesn't really impress me...Who's your favorite?

When I brought my 29 weeker home, she came home on Reglan. She cried 24/7. Seemed miserable. I mean, it was unbearable. I weaned her off the Reglan, and she was like a totally different baby!! We went to Zantac and she did wonderful.. I couldn't believe the difference it made!

Hey! So glad Brayden is doing much better! I will continue to pray that he keeps "settling in" to the routine of things. It's so fun when your baby starts smiling and giggling. He is so adorable.

That sign is so cool! I love that.

Looks like Brayden was enjoying the snow day. :)

Thanks so much for your sweet thank you note. You did not have to send that! :) It was a cute card though. :)

What a wonderful "Welcome Home" sign that greeted you when you came home from the hospital! Sounds like Brayden is getting used to his surroundings and routines...sleeping during the night can sometimes be a challenge; but that, too, will happen. Hopefully, Brayden's pediatrician can adjust or eliminate his meds. Jenna, you look great! Being a mommy agrees with you! It is snowing here now - could get up to a foot.

Yeay - I'm glad Brayden is doing so well!!! I yanked Harper off the Reglan this week and she is doing SOOOO much better. In fact - she only woke up ONCE last night and has slept most of today and has smiled and not cried at all! I hope B gets better and better and you get some rest! You look great!

Beautiful pics--you look like you feel so much better! Brayden is cuter every time I see him.
Too funny about the DCC show. I watched it, too. Haven't watched The Batchelor this season (never really have, actually) but I may check it out tomorrow to see Melissa. ;)

I haven't gotten to see much of this season of the Bachelor but I'm excited to see the Finally.

I hope Brayden feels better soon and your doctor can take him off of the Reglan if thats what causing him pain.

Hi there,
I've been reading your blog for about a month now. So glad to see you guys are doing well!! I've been praying for that!

My fave for The Bachelor is Melissa, too. She seems like a genuinely nice person. Not too fond of Molly. But they're eluding to a big finale so we'll see what happens!!

Hey Jenna! The snow is beautiful. I like near Fort Smith. Where are you located? I got here several months back thru my cousin Robin which was thru Kellys Korner I believe. I've been reading almost every day. I am so thankful Brayden is doing well.

I am pulling for Melissa.

And LOVE the sign. It's beautiful.

I'm so glad Brayden is a happy baby! NICU babies do have a hard time transitioning, my daughter was in the NICU for 2 months so I've been there. I was actually on Reglan myself, turns out there's an "off-label" use for it, it increases breast milk. It made me feel crazy, like literally insane. I had to get off of it. It did work great for increasing my supply. I just stopped taking it one day and my husband and I prayed and trusted God to keep my supply and it stayed. Just one of the many miracles He's performed in our lives. Our main miracle being my daughter: www.shareyourstory.org/autumnelizabeth

I was also pulling for Melissa even though I thought he'd choose Molly but now I've read all these crazy rumors on the internet about the finale I'm just waiting to watch and find out what's true and what's not. There's going to be a 2nd After The Final Rose special on Tues night. Read about the conspiracy on my blog http://teamtottle.blogspot.com/2009/02/bachelor-conspiracy-theory-and-after.html

Been following you for a while...can't even remember how I found you but wanted to let you know that Reglan made both of my babies MISERABLE! We finally settled on Prevacid and they both did great on it. (Plus the pediatrician always has free samples) Best wishes!

So glad that things are going well!Your little boy is adorable:) Loved the latest pictures.
As far as the Bachelor- I am addicted!! I am so looking forward to tonight. Usually I have a girl picked out and that I am really pulling for however this season was not the case for some reason. Now don't get me wrong there were definatly some that I did NOT want him to pick! So as far as tonight goes I am not sure I am just looking forward to see how it plays out!

Melissa is my favorite too. I am not a fan of Molly at all. Hubs and i will be watching tonight as he is more addicted then I am. I am so glad that Brayden is doing so well.

I am so glad Brayden is doing better. I read the book "Happiest Baby on the Block" it was very informative and gave some great advise. It talks all about babies needing a 4th trimester because they come into the world not ready. You might try reading it if you find any spare time! I know what that is like. When my twin preemie daughters came home they were both on reglan. It was horrible. They cried and screamed all the time. We finally had them switched to Prevacid and Zantac. They were total different babies. We are 9 months today and now only on the Zantac and we are having great results with it. You might try asking to switch from Reglan to Zantac. Hang in there, it will get easier soon.

Prevacid=Great! So please leave him on it. My daughter was finally put on it and I have only heard good things about it from other mothers. It is top notch, so continue that!

FYI-babies hate snow. We took our five month old out yesterday and she hated it. Not saying you'd take him out at this age, but I'd wait at least until he can throw snowb alls. :-)

As for baths...we learned quickly that babies do not like to be partially submerged in water. Keep him as covered in water as you can and he'll start to enjoy it more. The hammock for the baby bath sucks because it gets wet and then gets cold. That's when babies hate it. So make sure you keep a hand on his head but keep his body submerged. Make sure the water is warm. Don't pay much attention to the "hot/cold" buttons because they say "hot" when the water is too cold. Babies like hot water. Around 100 or something. No more than 120 as you know!

PS.

Saw a comment about Zantac. For babies with bad reflux, this doesn't work. It isn't strong enough. Get him off the Reglan and you should be okay.

Shelly said...

That snow was crazy! Hard to believe that we had had Warm Temps just days before! lol.

I wanted to let you know that my daughter shelbie took Reglan and Zantac at the same time as an infant. She had Horrible acid reflux and would projectile vomit. (sorry yuck lol) They both worked great for her and she didn't have any side effects that we could tell. I'm so glad that your little guy is doing so great!

Please pray for the Freeman family. Kayleigh was born in June and has been in the NICU since birth. She may be able to go home in about a month (with in-home nurse care). However, their home foreclosure date has been sent for the end of March. There will be a raffle/giveaway starting tomorrow to help raise money for them. However, they are also in need of many prayers. Please help spread the word!!! Kayleighannefreeman.blogspot.com

Thanks you!

Brayden is such a cutie! I just read that you had trouble trying to have a baby...my husband and I are going through that right now, it's been almost 2 years. What finally worked for you? How did you deal with the disappointment each month? I am having a rough time and just get so frustrated. But hearing other peoples stories does give me hope. Glad to hear you are all doing so well!

Both of my kids were on Prevacid for 5-6 months and it only helped them and their mood! I highly recommend it for a reflux baby :)

I love how you too coordinate. He is 100% boy already if he is enjoying looking at the ceiling fan. That banner is amazing could you pass along the info as to where they got it. Oh and I must say you look fab, I don't have many pics with me a baby after they are born as I don't want anyone to ever see my "natural beauty", lol

I loved the banner - brought tears to my eyes! And I watch DCC too ... secretly love it:), so yes I was pulling for Melissa too!

Brayden is a cutie!! But I have to say that I cannot stand Melissa from The Bachelor. Nor do I like Molly. I thought Jillian should have won from the beginning so I am super glad that she is the next Bachelorette!!
