This is going to be short because we are really, really tired, but I wanted you all to have an update!
I now think of life in 3 hour increments. That's because that is how often Brayden gets fed. This morning our NP decided to let us give Brayden more bottles so we got to feed him at 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm and 8pm. Our wonderful night nurse Shannon, will be giving him bottles at 11pm, 2am and 5am (we were going to stay all night to feed him until we heard that Shannon was going to be our nurse tonight - she is the best!).
We had another doctor rotation today and Dr. May is our doctor again (we love her!). She gave Brayden a little pep talk today and told him that he is well and now he needs to take his bottles so we can go home! I sure hope he listens better to her than he is to us!
Brayden did very well today with his feedings and so I am holding out hope that maybe we will get to go home this week. But I've been saying that for the last few weeks now, so who knows. Please continue to pray for Brayden, that he would understand what he needs to do.
And a quick update on Baby B...they were going to attempt to take him off of ECMO but were unable to today. His family could really use your prayers. I know they were discouraged by today's news.
Thank you all for your diligent prayers. We need and appreciate them!

Jenna - praying for ya'll to come home soon. I know how tired you must all be. Glad to hear Brayden is doing better and better.
We're still praying...and that is great about the feedings. I know you are SO READY to go home!! Hopefully it will be this week!
-Praying that Brayden starts to eat better! That's great that you are able to give him more bottles. We know that God's timing is best! If it weren't for you guys still being in the hospital, all of us wouldn't also be praying for "Baby B".
(But we do hope and pray you guys get to go home soon!)

Hang in there, I can only imagine how incredibly frustrating this is. God is control, even of the little things!
Alright Brayden.....keep taking those bottles. Home is MUCH nicer than that hospital. swear.
Still praying for Brayden, Baby B, and all of his other friends in the NICU! I pray that ya'll will get to take your sweet boy home very soon!
Still praying in Kentucky!
Thank you so much for the update. I have been thinking of you often. I know this must get discouraging. You are such a good mommy!
Jenna, I thought you'd find it sweet to know that my 17-year old son (who lives in his college dorms) checks up on Brayden daily. (He goes through the link on my blog.) Brayden has a lot of people praying for him and his friends in the NICU.
Jenna, I'm so glad to hear the bottle feeding is going a bit better and there may be a possible homecoming very soon. Still praying for Brayden, and my prayers are with baby B as well.
Hope your sinus infection has cleared up!

Consistancy is the key when it comes to feeding him. If you can be there for as many feeds as possible (except at night) and either you or your husband (stick to one of you) is the one to feed him, it will go much smoother.
My baby was in the hospital and feeds was the last thing keeping him in- the problem was we had a different nurse every shift and some didn't want to bother trying to feed with the bottle and would skip straight to the NG tube feed. Once I was able to be there for every feed (I have little ones at home too) I was able to bring him home. The doctors were confident that I would bring him in if he wasn't eating.
We brought him home on the NG tube, he pulled it out right away. We bottle fed him that night and brought him in the next morning for a new one to be put in, after him pulling it out 3 times we didn't go have it put back in and decided to wait a day or two until my regular Pediatrician was in but it didn't matter, with that tube gone and not irritating his throat he started taking his full feeds by bottle.
Praying Brayden does well with his bottles in the coming days and that you can take him home soon! Get some rest!
It's already tuesday here in france... and that means Brayden is 1 month old ! Wish you 3 a wonderful day ! Keep up improving Brayden !
We pray for you in France !

Jenna - I live in Montana and have been following your blog and praying for your family. I hope you are doing ok, you haven't posted in a few days. You are a good mama! Fight for what you know is best for your baby. Having a nursing degree doesn't always make you smarter! Hang in there, I am praying for you.
You are in our prayers!!!!
Praying for home very soon!!! I know you are sooo ready! Sounds like he's getting better each and every day so he's on the right track!
Praying for Brayden to eat well today!
Also praying for little baby B and his family.

Keep eating Brayden...I can only imagine how ready you must be to go home. Praying for you.
You remain in our prayers. Silly little boy. I am sure if he had any idea how much he was missing being at home, he would start sucking those bottles dry! :)
I am glad to hear that Brayden is making steady improvements! I know you must be tired but I also know you are just hoping for the best for your little man :)!
Hoping and praying ya'll get to take your little boy home soon!
Jenna- praying you will get to come home soon and Brayden will take to those bottles eagerly!
So glad he is a good eater!
Keep on eating, little guy! Your mommy & daddy want to take you home!
I'll keep praying that you're able to bring him home very soon. And also for Baby 'B.' Thanks for the updates. Thinking of you all...

Great news about the increased feedings! And even better that you had a nurse you trust to take the night shift for you. :) Trust me, after 87 days of Cadence being in the NICU I was THRILLED to have her home, but if I was completely honest with myself, keeping a 3 hour schedule round the clock (and I was pumping too) there were a few nights after awhile where I began to miss the round the clock top notch care she had recieved at the hospital so that I could get a little more sleep at night :) rest up while you can! You'll be doing the every bottle feeding at home before you know it.
Still praying for Brayden and Baby B!
PRAYING!!!!!!
Jenna, you are in my thoughts and prayers....Barb
What a blessing to have a nurse that you trust there to take care of your baby boy. Get some (much needed) sleep. I had a baby in the NICU, and once they "get well" they get well FAST, so don't be discouraged. . .he is well on his way.
Haven't commented lately, but still praying for you! I know you are eager to get home, praying it happens soon and that Brayden continues to eat well!

Okay, Baby boy....you know what you have to do to go home.... I know it must seem so very tedious to you by now, Jenna, to be captive in the hospital, but be patient. I just know he's going to catch on pretty soon. We're all praying so hard for that sweet little guy of yours! He had a really rocky start, so the steps are small to get him where he needs to be to go home. Remember that he's made quite a mountain of progress since the beginning. He's probably still got a little more "adjusting" to do, but he'll get there, and you'll be confident when you take him home that he's ready to be there. We'll keep praying til it happens....and then on beyond that.....
Jenna,
Be encouraged because when we were in hospital just before we got to come home with Harper, she was barely eating and then, boom, all at once she started and when she got home , she is eating alot!
It can happen just in a few hours! Praying for all of you ...we know you are tired but keep going for Brayden's sake! Our prayers are still being said for you all. Keep eating, Brayden! Home is much better than the NICU, no matter what good care you get!
