I don't really have much of an update...Brayden still has zero interest in taking his bottle. Today he also showed that he might have an issue with acid reflux, which is common in babies who have had PPHN. They did several of his feedings directly through his tube today because they think he is just needing to rest after all of his meds were turned off (no more meds, yay!!).
Daddy was able to attempt his 5pm feed...but it just succeeded in making him mad:
He managed to pull out yet another IV so they decided to put the newest one directly into his head, which scared me to death when we arrived this morning...no one had mentioned this change to us (we call every morning when we wake up). Tomorrow that IV should come out which is great!
They've also continued to up his feed amounts...he is at 26ml's right now. I think he has to get up to around 60 or so at each feed but I'm not quite sure....thankfully our favorite nurse will be there tomorrow and I'm sure she will know! We are still hoping that Brayden will be ready to go sometime this week!
Thank you for continuing to pray for all of the NICU babies!

Mad is good. . .'cause one day he will be so mad that he will TAKE that bottle and then some. :) So glad that his meds are all gone.
Yeah Brayden,no more meds! That's great news! Pretty soon you will be eating up all of those bottles & mad about waiting for you to give him one. So happy about the great strides he's making.

So glad that you guys will hopefully be able to go home this week! I'll be praying that Brayden will start eating those bottles!
-praying for you in Indiana
Happy to hear he's off all meds!
Continuing to pray...
((HUGS))
Praying he'll continue to do well, start taking his bottle again, and get to go home soon!
Yay! No more meds! Can't wait for no more IV! My baby boy was a preemie and wouldn't take his bottle, it was so frustrating since he obviously couldn't go home until he ate from a bottle. Praying that Brayden will start taking it soon so he can go home!
Hugs and prayers,
Heather~ On the Homefront
I will pray tonight that he will start eating well.
Here is the hoping that everyday continues to get better and better. Continuing to keep you all in my prayers.

Praise the Lord for no more meds!
I will be praying he decides to take that bottle!
Go Brayden! No more meds is great.
Still praying! Hoping you will get to come home this week.

Just want you to know that the ladies of 4W have been praying for Brayden and his mommy and daddy (and grandparents too!) We are so looking forward to the day you all are home! We will continue to pray and are so excited that your precious baby is doing so well! Much love, Lorrel and the ladies of 4W
I am a college friend of Kelly's and I have been keeping up with your family via her blog! What a precious boy Brayden is! When I saw the picture of him with his iv in his head, I was reminded of the scar on my head I received when I had an iv there almost 34 years ago as a preemie! (promise he won't remember it!) Best wishes to you all!
Amy
PRAISE GOD! We prayed for Brayden and Harper today at church. May God continue to heal your precious baby boy. We love ur shirts...my daughter and I want one! :)
Keeping you and your family in prayer,
Crissy and Jordan Daniel
Yay Brayden! I really am incredibly impressed by how quickly he turned it around. Praise! and no meds too!
If his reflux stays, they may put him on Prilosec, but that's an easy one for you to give at home.
And yes, approx. 60mls (2 oz) is what he should be eating per feed.
Still praying for sweet little Brayden's full recovery :)
I must admit, when I pulled up your post I thought Brayden had a BOW in his hair...not an IV. I thought to myself...why did Jenna put a bow in that little baby's head? Glad to know it's an IV and that it will be out soon!
So many improvements!! I'll be praying he goes home this week!
Great news! I haven't checked your blog for a few days and I am thrilled to see him improvements! God is good!
We are still praying for all of the NICU babies and especially those abandoned babies. That has really gotten to my heart. I am thankful for your updates and I know that you will have your son home very soon!
The strength of your entire family really inspires me. I can't wait til you can take Brady home!
I am so glad that Brayden is doing better! I will keep praying that he gets to come home soon! My little boy had reflux and it was no big deal really. They put him on Prevacid and it was really easy to give to him at home. And it usually peaks at 6 months, so hopefully it won't be something longterm. My son is almost 8 months old and off the Prevacid with no problems with the reflux anymore! Hope you are continuing to recover well!
I just got on your blog and want you to know that you all are being prayed for in Miami Beach. Love Gayle
Look at his beautiful eyes! So happy to hear of his progress. We will continue to pray for him and is buddies in the NICU.

Found your blog via MckMama/Kelly/Bring the Rain. I remember when my (now 6 y.o.) son had an i.v. put in his head. We were in Germany & the nurses didn't speak English very well but they were able to calm my initial shock. Apparently he had pulled one of his others out, too. It was only in for a day, thank goodness. (c: Wish you could see before & after pics to see how God has worked in his life!
Praying for you all...
My daughter Lauren had to have an iv in her head at 7 weeks old - those things are so scary looking!! Hooray for no more meds and he'll get the hang of the eating thing soon enough!
So good to hear how well Brayden is doing! God is good!
PRAYING!!!!!!!
No meds is such a miracle!!! Praise God! Still praying!
Jenna:
I got to your blog through Kelly Stamps' blog. I have been following Brayden's progress and am so greatful that he is off of his meds and on his way to a full recovery. Being a first time mom is nerve-wracking under the best of circumstances so I cannot imagine all that you have been through. Brayden will continue to be in my prayers as will his parents. One of these days he will probably eat you out of house and home! I wish you all the best of luck, love, happiness (and patience)as you continue your journey as parents. Nothing in the world can compare! Can't wait to hear that Brayden is headed home! Hugs, Kara Mills Oosterhous
So great to hear that he's still doing so well! GO Brayden!
Sounds familiar to me. When Morgan was in the NICU they discovered that she had reflux as well. Went hand in hand with her dx as well. She ended up on meds for it which worked wonders. And toward the end of her stay she ended up with her IV in her scalp as well. When they told me they might do it I was hesitant because it seems like it just wouldn't be good but she actually seemed more comfortable with it in her scalp rather than a hand or foot. In fact her poor hands & feet looked like they hurt but the scalp IV did seem better just scarier looking. I'm sure Brayden is feeling just fine with it there.
Sorry he's not taking the bottle yet. It took Morgan a little while to figure it out too. Brayden will get it.God is faithful isn't He? We'll keep praying.
Still praying for that sweet little boy & that you get to take him home soon!
I will be in prayer that he will take is bottle, soon and before you know it he'll be eating you out of house and home!!!! PTL, we continue to lift Brayden and you and dad in prayer!!!!
Bless his heart! He looks so sweeeeet! OH! No more meds...that's great! I'll be praying for him and his eating!
Yay for no more meds!!!! Praise God for he is good! What remarkable strides Brayden has taken in the last few days. He'll take that bottle..give him time..once he starts he won't stop :) Continuing to pray for him!
My son was born 6 weeks early - and eating/gaining weight was his biggest issue. I was pumping the whole time he was in the hospital, plus forfor several weeks after he got home. It was so hard...pumping and then trying and trying to get the bottle thing going for him. But patience was the key! He also had reflux, but is now a very healthy 2 year old who eats lots of things with no troubles!
Jenna--we are still praying so hard for little Brayden. I pray he will take his bottle soon--I work with babies who don't eat well or who don't eat at all in speech therapy, and I know how frustrating that is. I pray you will have patience and that he will have it quickly.
Yeah Brayden...God is good...Barb
My mom told me of Brayden's story. My youngest had PPHN. What a very scary ordeal---ours barely avoided ECMO also. The road to eating was very frustrating as they just tire out so easily. Find strength and comfort through Isaiah 40 (esp. v 11) Our youngest is now 18 months old. Other than acid reflux, he's totally healed! How great is our God!
We will continue to be praying for you & Brayden.
Glad he is doing so much better, what great news and what an awesome God we worship! Keeping you in my prayers!
